Position Purpose:

The individuals who Seasonal Local Driver and provide food services play a vital function in the nation's food distribution network. These drivers are responsible for ensuring that customers receive their orders on time and in excellent condition, all while embodying the values and image of our brand

The Seasonal Local Driver is accountable for the transportation of food and food-related merchandise, utilizing different types of trucks for delivery purposes. They are responsible for delivering goods safely and promptly to customers, following DOT regulations and ensuring compliance with transportation laws. The driver's primary duty is to transport food items securely and promptly, adhering to all guidelines set forth by the Department of Transportation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promotes professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues to provide accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Adheres to the team dynamic within the department and organization, fulfilling any duties as necessary to serve the company effectively.
  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any safety issues or repairs that are necessary.
  • Committed to following both DOT guidelines and company driving safety policies.
  • Promptly notifies of safety hazards and conducts a thorough inspection of the trailer to ensure the proper loading and securing of the cargo.
  • Conducts a comprehensive count check of items and cross-references customer invoices for loaded merchandise.
  • Confirms and finalizes all obligatory forms linked with freight accurately and in a legible format.
  • Drives the tractor to the loading area and connects the preloaded trailer if needed.
  • Drives a designated route to deliver customer orders as per the delivery schedule.
  • Moving goods from the trailer into designated storage areas for customers.
  • Carries out inspections on merchandise to identify damages, analyzes scanning results, and contacts a superior to initiate the cancellation of orders following company protocols.
  • Ensures that items have been delivered to customers and secures the necessary signatures.
  • Gathers funds in the form of cash or checks from designated locations. Loads merchandise returns onto a trailer and ensures the trailer doors are properly sealed.
  • Confirms that the tractor, trailer, and freight remain consistently locked and secured as required.
  • Responsibilities include unloading damaged merchandise and customer returns, then transporting them to the driver check-in station for necessary paperwork processing. Additionally, remove any trash from trailers and unload essential equipment and materials as needed.
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Handles general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, ensuring trailers are kept clear and tidy as per guidelines.
  • Prior to leaving for the day, ensure that all equipment is safely stored and any required paperwork is finished.
  • Executes related tasks as appointed.

Qualification:

  • Experience in the field of commercial driving for 12 months
  • Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED or a state-endorsed comparable qualification
  • Valid CDL A
  • Satisfy state requirements for licensing and certification as needed
  • The minimum age requirement for this stipulation is 21 years old
  • Acquire an unblemished driving history for the past 3 years from the relevant authorities
  • Fulfill the conditions of a clean drug test and spotless criminal record post job offer
  • Pass road test
  • Present a current DOT Health Card or have the ability to obtain a new DOT Health Card
  • Proficient in the physical handling and use of two-wheelers, lift gates, and other equipment to relocate and stack product cases or cargo of various sizes and weights throughout the shift duration; the merchandise typically weighs between 10 to 35 pounds but may occasionally reach between 60 and 90 pounds depending on the site
