Position Purpose:

Logistics Driver delivery personnel are essential links in the food supply chain, guaranteeing that items are delivered punctually and in pristine condition. Moreover, these drivers represent our brand, playing a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining positive connections with our clientele

The Logistics Driver is in charge of operating a tractor trailer or straight truck to transport food products to customers, whether it be intrastate or interstate deliveries. They are responsible for unloading the goods efficiently and safely, following all DOT regulations throughout the transportation process. The driver's main focus is on delivering food items to customers in a secure and timely manner while complying with the Department of Transportation's rules and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues is conducted in a professional manner, providing accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Participates as a team member in the department and organization, carrying out any necessary tasks to fulfill the company's needs and objectives.
  • Carries out obligatory safety checks, including pre and post-trip evaluations, by inspecting the tractor, truck, and trailer following Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. Furthermore, verifies the tractor, truck, and trailer for compliance with company safety guidelines and addresses any issues appropriately.
  • Ensure that all safety incidents or necessary fixes are documented and reported.
  • Abides by all DOT guidelines and company-approved safe driving measures.
  • Timely reports all safety issues and inspects the trailer to verify the correct loading and securing of the freight.
  • Performs a check to ensure the accurate count of items and validates customer invoices for loaded merchandise.
  • Validates and wraps up all mandatory paperwork associated with shipping in a precise and understandable way.
  • Moves the tractor to the loading bay and joins the preloaded trailer when necessary.
  • Follows a structured delivery route to distribute customer parcels efficiently.
  • Moving goods from the trailer into designated storage areas for customers.
  • Undertakes assessments on items to ensure they meet standards, reviews scanning procedures, and informs a manager about the removal of orders in line with company policies.
  • Verifies the receipt of items from customers and obtains the required signatures.
  • Collects money, whether in cash or check form, at specified points. Safely loads returned products onto a trailer and secures the trailer doors for transit.
  • Double-checks to ensure that the tractor, trailer, and load are continuously locked and securely fastened.
  • Tasks involve unloading faulty products and returns from customers, then bringing them to the driver check-in for paperwork completion. Ensure all trailers are free from trash and unload any necessary equipment and materials.
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Undertakes general cleaning tasks in the tractor, loading dock area, and maintains an orderly trailer space as required.
  • When ending your shift, it is important to secure all equipment and finalize all paperwork.
  • Undertakes related tasks as instructed.

Qualification:

  • Experience in commercial driving spanning a 12-month period
  • The minimum educational requirement includes a high school diploma, GED, or an authorized alternative as per state regulations
  • Valid CDL A
  • Adhere to state licensing and certification prerequisites if relevant
  • Being 21 years of age is a prerequisite for eligibility
  • Acquire an unblemished driving history for the past 3 years from the relevant authorities
  • Satisfactorily pass the post-offer drug screening and criminal background verification
  • Pass road test
  • Maintain a DOT Health Card that is current or be willing to undergo the process of obtaining a new one
  • Competent in manually handling and utilizing a variety of equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to transport and stack product cases or freight of varying sizes and weights during the shift; product weights typically range from 10-35 pounds but can occasionally be higher, up to around 60-90 pounds based on location
