Position Purpose:

The role that Local Delivery Driver play in the food supply chain is indispensable. They are responsible for transporting products to customers in a timely manner and ensuring that they arrive in impeccable condition. Additionally, these drivers serve as ambassadors for our company, playing a crucial part in nurturing enduring customer relationships

The Local Delivery Driver responsibility involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck to deliver food products to customers via local, interstate, and OTR routes. Their main task is to transport and unload food and food-related items safely and on time while adhering to the regulations set by the Department of Transportation. The driver must ensure that all deliveries are made in a secure and timely manner, following DOT guidelines throughout the transportation process.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engages in professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure that questions are addressed accurately and promptly.
  • Operates as an integral part of the team within the department and the organization, executing all responsibilities assigned in the best interest of the company.
  • Conducts essential safety reviews, such as pre and post-trip inspections, involving assessments of the tractor, truck, and trailer in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. Moreover, confirms adherence to company safety standards for the tractor, truck, and trailer and takes the necessary steps as needed.
  • Report any safety hazards or needed repairs without delay.
  • Follows all DOT requirements and company-specific safe driving procedures.
  • Swiftly communicates any safety hazards and examines the trailer to ensure the cargo is loaded and secured adequately.
  • Conducts a verification process for the quantity of items and confirms customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Reviews and completes all necessary documentation related to freight in an accurate and clear manner.
  • Positions the tractor at the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer accordingly.
  • Drives a designated route to deliver customer orders as per the delivery schedule.
  • Unload goods from the trailer and transport them to specific customer storage spots.
  • Performs checks on goods to detect any damages, verifies scanning outcomes, and reaches out to a supervisor to arrange the deletion of orders according to company guidelines.
  • Confirms that goods have been delivered to customers and gathers the appropriate signatures.
  • Performs the task of gathering required funds, be it cash or checks. Ensures the proper loading of customer returns onto a trailer and secures the trailer doors afterward.
  • Guarantees that the tractor, trailer, and cargo are always secured and locked appropriately.
  • Responsibilities consist of unloading damaged goods and customer returns, then taking them to the driver check-in to complete essential paperwork. Remove trash from trailers and unload all equipment and materials as directed.
  • Records the number of service hours performed each day and logs them appropriately, adhering to Federal DOT, state regulations, and company policies.
  • Handles general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, ensuring trailers are kept clear and tidy as per guidelines.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and secure equipment before leaving at the end of your shift.
  • Fulfills any other designated responsibilities.

Qualification:

  • One year of hands-on experience in commercial driving
  • To fulfill the criteria, applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED, or a state-approved equivalent
  • Valid CDL A
  • Comply with state licensing and certification conditions where applicable
  • The minimum age requirement for this stipulation is 21 years old
  • Obtain a spot-free Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) spanning the last three years
  • Demonstrate compliance with post-offer drug testing and criminal background screening
  • Pass road test
  • Hold a valid DOT Health Card or be ready to obtain a new DOT Health Card if necessary
  • Adept at hand-lifting and using two-wheelers, lift gates, and other equipment to relocate and stack product cases or freight of different dimensions and weights during the working period. The items usually weigh between 10-35 pounds but may occasionally extend up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location
