Position Purpose:

The Delivery Associate drivers in the food supply chain is pivotal. These drivers are entrusted with the responsibility of delivering products to customers in a timely manner and ensuring that they are in optimal condition. Furthermore, they serve as the public face of our company, actively engaging with customers to foster lasting relationships

Delivery Associate is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues is conducted professionally, with a focus on providing accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Functions efficiently as part of the team within the department and organization, undertaking any assigned tasks to contribute to the success of the company.
  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Timely reporting of safety problems and required fixes is imperative.
  • Strictly follows DOT rules and company-approved safe driving protocols.
  • Expeditiously reports any safety concerns and inspects the trailer to confirm the proper loading and securing of the freight.
  • Conducts a comprehensive count check of items and cross-references customer invoices for loaded merchandise.
  • Checks and completes in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
  • Transports the tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer if required.
  • Navigates a specified delivery route to drop off customer packages efficiently.
  • Transporting merchandise from the trailer into designated storage areas for customers.
  • Carries out inspections on items to determine their status, reviews scanning data, and contacts a manager to discuss the removal of orders based on company policy.
  • Obtains the correct signatures from customers to verify the delivery of items.
  • Handles the task of gathering funds, be it in cash or check form. Loads returned items onto a trailer and secures the trailer doors to prevent any issues during transit.
  • Maintains the security of the tractor, trailer, and merchandise by ensuring they are always locked and properly fastened.
  • Responsibilities include unloading damaged goods and returns from customers and bringing them to the driver check-in area for paperwork completion. Remove trash from trailers and unload all equipment and materials as instructed.
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Carries out standard housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock vicinity, keeping the trailer area clean and organized as directed.
  • Before you leave, make sure all equipment is safely stored and all paperwork is completed.
  • Completes any other allocated responsibilities.

Qualification:

  • A year-long background in commercial driving
  • Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED or a state-endorsed comparable qualification
  • Valid CDL A
  • Abide by state licensing and certification mandates where applicable
  • The stipulated age for qualification is 21 years old
  • Acquire a flawless driving history for the past 3 years through the designated channels
  • Clear the drug test and criminal record screening after being extended a job offer
  • Pass road test
  • Ensure possession of a current DOT Health Card or be willing to procure a new DOT Health Card when needed
  • Competent in manually handling and using different equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack product cases or freight of varying sizes and weights during the shift; the weight of products typically ranges from 10-35 pounds but can sometimes reach up to about 60-90 pounds based on the location
