Position Purpose:
Seasonal Delivery Driver play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the food supply chain by transporting goods to customers promptly and in optimal condition. They also serve as the frontline representatives of our company, playing a key role in cultivating enduring connections with our clients
The Seasonal Delivery Driver duty entails driving a variety of trucks, including tractor trailers and straight trucks, for the transportation of food products to customers. They are required to follow DOT regulations strictly and deliver the goods in a secure and punctual manner. The driver's main objective is to transport and unload food and food-related items efficiently, while complying with all safety protocols and laws enforced by the Department of Transportation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Engages in professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure that questions are addressed accurately and promptly.
- Assumes a collaborative role within both the department and the organization, executing tasks as required to promote the company's interests.
- Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
- Timely reporting of safety problems and required fixes is imperative.
- Upholds all DOT regulations and company safe driving standards.
- Immediately notifies of any safety hazards and inspects the trailer to ensure the freight is loaded and secured correctly.
- Performs a thorough inspection of item quantities and checks customer invoices for loaded products.
- Checks and completes in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
- Maneuvers the tractor to the loading bay and secures the preloaded trailer as necessary.
- Transports and delivers customer items following a predetermined delivery route.
- Unload goods from the trailer and transport them to specific customer storage spots.
- Undertakes assessments on items to ensure they meet standards, reviews scanning procedures, and informs a manager about the removal of orders in line with company policies.
- Validates the delivery of products with customers and acquires the correct signatures.
- Handles the collection of payments, including cash and checks as necessary. Safely loads customer refunds onto a trailer and secures the trailer doors for transport.
- Verifies that the tractor, trailer, and cargo are consistently locked and properly secured.
- Handle damaged goods and returned items from customers by unloading them and bringing them to the driver's check-in for necessary paperwork completion. Also, unload all required equipment and materials while ensuring trailers are free of any trash.
- Ensures the completion of daily service hour records and inputs them into the log in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and organizational mandates.
- Undertakes general cleaning tasks in the tractor, loading dock area, and maintains an orderly trailer space as required.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and secure equipment before leaving at the end of your shift.
- Carries out additional duties as given.
Qualification:
- Twelve months of practical experience as a commercial driver
- Demonstrating educational qualifications involves presenting a high school diploma, GED, or an alternative recognized by the state
- Valid CDL A
- Meet state-specific licensing and certification obligations when necessary
- To be eligible, one must be at least 21 years of age
- Obtain a spot-free Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) spanning the last three years
- Satisfactorily pass the post-offer drug screening and criminal background verification
- Pass road test
- Possess a valid DOT Health Card or be capable of obtaining a new one as needed
- Capable of manually lifting and operating different tools like two-wheelers, lift gates, and other machinery to transport and stack product cases or freight of different dimensions and mass during the work period. The items typically weigh between 10-35 pounds but can occasionally reach up to 60-90 pounds, varying by site
