Position Purpose:

Delivery Specialist drivers are essential components of the food supply chain, ensuring that goods are delivered to customers promptly and in excellent condition. They also act as the representatives of our company, playing a crucial role in establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with our customers

Delivery Specialist is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts interactions with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a professional manner, prioritizing accurate and timely responses to questions.
  • Adheres to the team dynamic within the department and organization, fulfilling any duties as necessary to serve the company effectively.
  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • It is essential to inform relevant parties about safety issues and necessary repairs.
  • Adheres to all DOT stipulations and company safe driving policies.
  • Speedily alerts about safety hazards and checks the trailer for appropriately loaded and firmly secured cargo.
  • Ensures the correct count of items and validates customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Confirms and finalizes all obligatory forms linked with freight accurately and in a legible format.
  • Maneuvers the tractor to the loading bay and secures the preloaded trailer as necessary.
  • Carries out the delivery of customer orders by adhering to a predetermined route schedule.
  • Moving items from the trailer to assigned areas for customer storage purposes.
  • Engages in assessments of products to identify any issues, examines scanning records, and communicates with a supervisor to facilitate the removal of orders as outlined in company policies.
  • Confirms the reception of items by customers and secures proper signatures.
  • Responsible for collecting money, either in cash or check form, as per requirements. Secures customer returns onto a trailer and ensures the trailer doors are properly sealed.
  • Checks regularly to make sure the tractor, trailer, and goods are always appropriately locked and secured.
  • Tasks involve unloading defective products and customer returns, then transporting them to the driver check-in for necessary paperwork. Additionally, ensure that trailers are clear of trash and unload all equipment and materials.
  • Records the daily service hours and logs them in accordance with the guidelines established by the Federal DOT, state laws, and company expectations.
  • Engages in regular cleaning responsibilities within the tractor, loading dock space, and ensures trailers are maintained in a clear and tidy condition as instructed.
  • Secure all equipment and finalize paperwork before ending your shift for the day.
  • Executes related tasks as appointed.

Qualification:

  • Commercial driving expertise accumulated over a period of 12 months
  • The educational standards specify the necessity of a high school diploma, GED, or an alternative accepted by the state
  • Valid CDL A
  • Meet state-specific licensing and certification obligations when necessary
  • The criterion specifies that individuals should have reached the age of 21
  • Secure a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that encapsulates the previous 36 months of driving activity
  • Meet the expectations of a clean drug test and favorable criminal background check after being offered the position
  • Pass road test
  • Possess a DOT Health Card that is valid or be in a position to secure a new DOT Health Card
  • Skilled in hand-lifting and utilizing two-wheelers, lift gates, and other equipment to transport and stack product cases or freight of different sizes and weights during the work shift. The product usually varies between 10-35 pounds but can sometimes be as heavy as 60-90 pounds, depending on the specific location
