Position Purpose:

The individuals who Commercial Driver food and provide food services play a vital function in the nation's food distribution network. These drivers are responsible for ensuring that customers receive their orders on time and in excellent condition, all while embodying the values and image of our brand

The Commercial Driver duty entails driving a variety of trucks, including tractor trailers and straight trucks, for the transportation of food products to customers. They are required to follow DOT regulations strictly and deliver the goods in a secure and punctual manner. The driver's main objective is to transport and unload food and food-related items efficiently, while complying with all safety protocols and laws enforced by the Department of Transportation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and peers, ensuring timely and accurate responses to queries.
  • Works cohesively with the team in the department and the organization, undertaking any assigned tasks efficiently to contribute positively to the company's success.
  • Completes essential safety verifications, including pre and post-trip examinations, by inspecting the tractor, truck, and trailer in line with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Furthermore, assesses the tractor, truck, and trailer to ensure adherence to company safety criteria and responds accordingly if adjustments are required.
  • It is important to communicate any safety issues or repairs that are needed.
  • Complies with all DOT mandates and company driving safety protocols.
  • Quickly identifies and reports any safety risks, while also examining the trailer to ensure the cargo is loaded and fastened correctly.
  • Completes a count inspection of items and cross-checks customer invoices for loaded goods.
  • Inspects and finalizes all essential paperwork connected with cargo in a precise and readable manner.
  • Transfers the tractor to the loading dock and affixes the preloaded trailer as necessary.
  • Executes the transportation of customer packages based on a predetermined route plan.
  • Transferring products from the trailer and delivering them to designated areas for customer storage.
  • Engages in evaluations of products for quality control, reviews scans for accuracy, and communicates with a supervisor to request the elimination of orders as per organizational guidelines.
  • Ensures that items have been delivered to customers and secures the necessary signatures.
  • Handles the collection of payments, including cash and checks as necessary. Safely loads customer refunds onto a trailer and secures the trailer doors for transport.
  • Confirms that the tractor, trailer, and freight remain consistently locked and secured as required.
  • Handle damaged goods and returned items from customers by unloading them and bringing them to the driver's check-in for necessary paperwork completion. Also, unload all required equipment and materials while ensuring trailers are free of any trash.
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Carries out general upkeep responsibilities in the tractor, loading dock space, and maintains a clear and neat trailer area as necessary.
  • At the conclusion of your workday, ensure all equipment is properly secured and all relevant paperwork is completed.
  • Executes supplementary tasks as directed.

Qualification:

  • A year's worth of experience in the commercial driving industry
  • Successful completion of high school education or an equivalent recognized by the state is necessary
  • Valid CDL A
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations for licensing and certification as needed
  • It is required to be 21 years old to meet the necessary criteria
  • Request a clear driving record for the last three years from the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Meet the requirements of passing both a drug examination and a background investigation following the job offer
  • Pass road test
  • Possess a valid DOT Health Card or be capable of obtaining a new one as needed
  • Proficient in the physical handling and use of two-wheelers, lift gates, and other equipment to relocate and stack product cases or cargo of various sizes and weights throughout the shift duration; the merchandise typically weighs between 10 to 35 pounds but may occasionally reach between 60 and 90 pounds depending on the site
